Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 1 October 2026
1. Who we are
Hampshire Performance ("we", "us", "our") is the trading name of Hampshire Performance Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16934237), registered office 21-23 East Street, Fareham, PO16 0BZ.
You can contact us at dan@hampshireperformance.co.uk or on 07766 173038.
2. These terms
These terms apply to all work we carry out and to any quote we provide. By booking work with us, you accept these terms. Please read them before your appointment — if there's anything you're unsure about, ask us before we start.
3. Quotes and bookings
Quotes are based on the vehicle details you give us and are not binding until we have inspected the vehicle and read its ECU. If the vehicle turns out to differ from what was described — a different engine variant, a previously modified or already-remapped ECU, or an ECU type that requires different equipment — we will tell you before proceeding and re-quote. You are free to decline at that point at no cost.
A booking is confirmed when we have agreed a date, time and location with you in writing (including by email, text or WhatsApp).
4. Prices and payment
Prices shown on our website are starting prices and vary by vehicle. The price we confirm to you in writing for your specific vehicle is the price you pay.
Payment is due in full on completion of the work, before we leave. We accept bank transfer and card payment. We do not take deposits.
Title in any calibration supplied remains with us until payment is received in full.
5. What you need to provide
Because we work at your home or workplace, we need a few things from you on the day:
- Safe, legal and reasonably level parking, with enough room to work around the vehicle and open the bonnet
- Access to the vehicle and its keys for the duration of the appointment
- A vehicle in roadworthy, mechanically sound condition with a healthy, well-charged battery
- At least a quarter tank of fuel
- Someone contactable at the address, or by phone, while we are working
If these aren't in place and we cannot safely carry out the work, clause 11 (cancellation) may apply.
6. Vehicle condition and our right to decline
ECU calibration places additional demand on an engine and its supporting components. We will not proceed, and reserve the right to decline or stop work at any point, where in our reasonable professional judgement the vehicle is not a suitable candidate — for example where there are existing fault codes, mechanical problems, a weak or failing battery, evidence of poor maintenance, or a previous modification we cannot verify.
If we decline before starting work, you pay nothing. If we have already begun diagnostic work and then decline on safety grounds, we may charge for the time spent, and we will tell you before incurring it.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults, wear, or component failures that were present or developing before our work, nor for the failure of components that were already at or near the end of their service life.
7. Your original file
We read and retain a backup copy of your vehicle's original calibration before making any change. We can restore that original file on request at any time, subject to our usual call-out charge.
We retain original file backups for as long as we hold your customer record (see our Privacy Policy). We strongly recommend you keep your own record of the work carried out.
8. Our 30-day file guarantee
We underwrite a 30-day guarantee on the calibration itself. If, within 30 days of the work, there is a demonstrable fault with the calibration file we have fitted that we cannot resolve, we will restore your original file and refund what you paid for the work.
To be clear about what this does and does not cover:
- It covers a defect in the calibration file we supplied — for example a drivability fault, a fuelling problem or a fault code directly caused by our map.
- It does not cover failure to achieve a particular power figure, MPG figure or percentage saving. Real-world fuel economy and performance depend heavily on driving style, load, route, fuel quality, vehicle condition and weather, and we do not guarantee specific figures.
- It does not cover pre-existing or unrelated mechanical faults, subsequent modification of the vehicle by you or a third party, or any further ECU work carried out by anyone else after us.
The guarantee is provided by Hampshire Performance Ltd. Our calibration partner VIEZU provides technical file support behind us, but your agreement and any refund is with us, not with them.
This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
9. Warranty, insurance and your obligations
A remap is a modification to your vehicle. You are responsible for the following, and by proceeding you confirm you understand them:
- Manufacturer warranty. A remap may affect or invalidate a manufacturer or third-party warranty. If your vehicle is under warranty, check the position before booking.
- Insurance. You must declare the modification to your insurer. Failing to do so may invalidate your policy, including in the event of a claim. This is your responsibility, not ours.
- Finance or lease vehicles. If the vehicle is on finance, lease or otherwise not wholly owned by you, you must have the owner's permission before any work is carried out. By booking, you confirm you have the authority to authorise modification of the vehicle.
- Legal use. You are responsible for ensuring the vehicle remains compliant with all applicable laws and regulations for the way you use it.
We are not liable for any loss arising from a warranty claim being refused, an insurance policy being invalidated, or a lack of owner authority, where you have not met these obligations.
10. Cancellation, rescheduling and your cooling-off right
Because we come to you, most of our contracts are formed away from our business premises. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you normally have the right to cancel within 14 days of entering into the contract, without giving a reason.
If you want the work carried out within that 14-day period — as most customers do — you must expressly ask us to begin. Where you do, and we then fully perform the service within the 14 days, you lose the right to cancel once the work is complete. If you cancel part-way through, you must pay for what has already been done.
Outside of that, we simply ask that you give us as much notice as you can if you need to rearrange. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or we arrive and cannot carry out the work for reasons within your control (no access, no keys, unsuitable location, flat battery, vehicle not present), we reserve the right to charge a call-out fee of £40 to cover our time and travel.
If we need to cancel or rearrange — for illness, vehicle breakdown, weather that makes working unsafe, or equipment failure — we will tell you as soon as we can and rebook at your convenience, at no cost to you.
11. Our liability
We carry public liability insurance and we take care with every vehicle we work on.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to that, our total liability arising out of or in connection with any work we carry out is limited to the amount you paid us for that work. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of use of the vehicle, loss of earnings, hire vehicle costs, or loss of profit.
We are not liable for consequences arising from information you gave us that was incomplete or inaccurate, or from your failure to meet the obligations in clauses 5 and 9.
12. If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the work, contact us as soon as possible on 07766 173038 or at dan@hampshireperformance.co.uk. We will always try to put things right. As a one-person business, you deal directly with Dan — there is no call centre and no ticket queue.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to services carried out with reasonable care and skill.
13. Data protection
We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your work is the version published on this page on the date your booking is confirmed.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
